Monotype with Janet Sherwood

Ink directly onto the printmaking plate, (A4) producing exciting and experimental images

  • Embed knowledge of colour mixing, (we will be using the primary colours plus black and white)

  • Create interesting textures and marks using everyday objects

  • Create multi layered prints

  • Set up a registration paper to ensure accuracy when layering colours

  • Transfer line images onto monoprints using tracing paper/baking

    parchment

  • Experiment with materials or shapes to create further surface interest

Sage and Season will host you for the day providing refreshments and snacks along with a two course lunch. The class will be kept to a maximum of 7 guests to ensure that you have ample support and assistance throughout the day.

Arrive at 9.30am to join us for coffee and something sweet, teaching will commence shortly after and conclude at 4.30pm. Cost for the day £115

Jan’s work as a designer/printmaker/artist/educator has evolved over thirty five years of practice. As a professional textile designer she has adapted and widened her practice and skills, embracing new technologies to create a wide variety of designs and individual artwork. Jan studied textiles at Winchester School of Art and has worked for major manufacturers and individual clients both in the UK and worldwide. She has lectured in Textiles at degree and MA level, taught secondary and sixth form.

Jan’s work responds to all landscape, rocks, cliffs, moorland, woodland, plants, trees and the wildlife that inhabits these environments. She’s passionate about the effects of climate change, the threats to our natural world and the need to educate, and inspire others to care for nature and our environment.
